TEEN Theatre-In-A-Day (for Age 11-18): Friday June 27-Saturday June 28
Performance Saturday June 28 at 7pm

Tickets will be available at the door.

This is the first time an event like this will take place at A Magical Journey Thru Stages. It will feature authors, directors and actors from the Rochester area. It will give these Artists a chance to not only develop a work but also have it produced on stage - all in a very short time period.

"This is low-commitment, high-stress theatre," quips producer John Barthelmes, who also produces a One Act festival each year and works in theatre with teens and adult all over Rochester. "I love the format of the one act - so much can happen in just a few pages of script. I'm also excited to see what creativity is spawned from having to put all of this together within a 24 hour time period."

To make this event successful we need:

Authors or Author Teams. We need 3 or 4 authors or author teams. Experienced authors welcome, or just those intrigued by the opportunity. Your commitment will be from Friday at 7pm until Saturday morning at 7am. Your responsibility will be to use all your creative abilities to create a one-act play in that time based on the brainstormed theme and the cast members given to you.

Directors. We need 3 or 4 directors (one for each author). Your commitment will be for the first hour (7pm-8pm Friday night) then 7am Saturday morning until show time. You will be working with the one-act provided with you at 7am Saturday morning and rehearsing with your actors starting at 8am. You will have access to whatever props and costumes available at Stages. You will need to be in the theatre that whole time.

Actors. We need 12 to 15 actors (3-4 for each author). Your commitment will be for the first hour (7pm-8pm Friday night) then 8am Saturday morning until show time. You will be rehearsing and memorizing your scene that entire time. You will need to be in the theatre that whole time.

ADULTS - this event is ideal for college students and adult authors, directors and performers as a way to hone your skills or just try them out in a new environment! We're also looking for adult directors to either direct or mentor teen directors for the teen event June 27-28.

TEENS - age 11-18. This is your chance to stretch your wings and try your skills out in a very short amount of time. Teen authors (or author teams) and teen directors will have a mentor available to help them, if needed.

It sounds daunting but it is all possible and very rewarding. Contact Producer John Barthelmes at johnb@balloonhq.com or 585-334-8973 for additional information.
