Performers in Grades 1 – 12 are immersed in an intense, fun endeavor to create a show using teamwork while expanding their skills in singing, dancing, and acting!

Each camp session culminates in full performances. Workshops have a free showcase near the end of their final day. A limited amount of needs-based tuition assistance is available.

THE STORY:
All Shook Up is inspired by and features the songs of Elvis Presley. It’s 1955, and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. This hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as “Jailhouse Rock,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

THE STORY:
Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," this Young@Part adaptation of MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, and was followed by two successful West End runs. The outrageous, uproarious, and gloriously entertaining story of King Arthur and the Lady of the Lake will delight casts and audiences as they search for the Holy Grail and “always look on the bright side of life.”

With this acting workshop, teens will build a strong foundation in, and learn the basics of, the craft of acting by learning concepts such as motivation and objective, beats, story and character arc, character flaws and obstacles, and dramatic action. Students will be introduced to techniques and concepts from the "Meisner Technique" and the "Stanislavski Method". These tools will be developed within scene studies using selected scenes from the play Almost, Maine by John Cariani. The program will culminate in a performance of these selected scenes so that all involved will have a chance to showcase their craft.

Want to portray Susan B. Anthony? Amelia Earhart? The inventor of television? These are all possibilities with this workshop. Perform one or two 10-minute plays in a showcase after attending classes to hone skills in these key performance areas:
· Focus (using actions with purpose and being in character even when not speaking)
· Character Intent (awareness of the character’s goals to form your inner character)
· Believability (using appropriate body language)
· Entrances/Exits (preparation and follow-through in order to make an impact)
· Relationships (connecting with other actors via eye contact, dialogue modes, and other techniques)
· Stage Presence (animation and facial expressions that enhance the scene)
There will be instruction, discussion, practice exercises, and scene work leading up to the last night’s showcase.
(The instructor will choose the plays from “Plays of the American Experience” based on the number and make-up of participants. Memorization is required and will be easily attainable.)

PAYMENT: A non-refundable deposit of $100 for each camp, plus completed registration form is required to hold a spot in the camp. Balance must be paid in full by due date listed below. Wrap-around until 5pm is included at no additional cost.
CANCELLED SESSION: Stages reserves the right to cancel any camp session for any reason, in which case tuition for that session will be fully refunded.
WITHDRAWAL POLICY: Tuition, excluding the deposit, is refundable prior to the “Tuition Due Date” listed in table below. After the “Tuition Due Date” for the camp, tuition is non-refundable except in the case of illness or emergency that prevents the child from starting camp. (The $100 deposit is not refundable.)

CHANGES: Camp Registrants may change to a different camp if there are still spots available and at the discretion of Stages. There is a $20 administrative change fee. Contact Stages at 935-7173 or Stages@mjtstages.com to request a change.
LOCATION: All camp days and performances take place at Stages air-conditioned theater, Auditorium Center, 3rd floor, 875 E. Main St, Rochester.
PARKING: If an event is taking place at the Auditorium Theatre, you may be charged to park. Tell the attendant you are with “Stages” to receive a discount.
LUNCH: Campers should bring lunch (full day), snacks and water bottles each day. To stay for lunch between the half day camps July 20 - 24, complete separate “Lunch Bunch Registration.”
