WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Calling all actors to learn valuable skills while playing characters in the hilarious Bad Auditions by Bad Actors. Set in a theater during a single zany day, this script will take participants on quite a ride! Actors will learn to use their bodies, voices, and expressions to portray one or more character trait with various attitudes and quirks. From casting on the first day to performance on the last; each class will provide valuable learning opportunities in character development, motivation, projection and expression. By performing as “bad actors,” the participants will become good actors. A showcase performance for family and friends will take place on the final class day.
THE SCRIPT
A casting director has one day to find the leads for a community theater production of Romeo and Juliet. But what seems like a simple task proves impossible when the pool of actors includes extreme method actors, performers who just don't know what to do with their hands, and one particular woman who may or may not think she's a cat. This hilarious comedy will bring you to the last place you'd ever want to be ... behind the doors of a casting session.
ATTENDANCE
The workshop takes places on six dates over two weeks — see Commitment Calendar. To ensure a successful experience and polished showcase performance, participants are expected to be available for all dates. We understand many families lead active lives and know that the workshop will take place during a very busy summer season. Therefore, accommodation will be made for one conflict if we are aware of it in advance. You are expected to be available for the mandatory dates and showcase performance during the second week.
The success of the workshop experience and showcase performance depends on team players making their time with us a priority. Conflicts are taken into consideration when casting. In the event of a serious, unexpected event (i.e. sickness, death, accident) please contact the Instructor or Production Manager to advise prior to class.
