PROPOSALS FOR STUDENT-DIRECTED
A Magical Journey Thru Stages, Inc. (“Stages”) is accepting proposals from 11th and 12th grade students to direct a one-act for our 2016 spring finale, on stage June 3 – 5. Feel free to share this with others who may be interested in submitting proposals.
STAGES is seeking proposals from talented 11th and 12th grade students interested in directing a play at STAGES. Stages Student-Directed One-Act is an opportunity to get hands-on experience as a director under the mentorship of an experienced professional director. As the student director, you will audition, cast, plan rehearsal schedules, lead rehearsals, block the show, help performers develop their character and inspire your cast to improve skills and reach their potential.
Performances will be June 3 – 5. Auditions are April 2 & 4. See the Conflict Calendar ONE ACT for potential rehearsal dates and times. Student performers will be in Grades 6 – 12 from all over the greater Rochester area. The Student Director tuition is $50.
Successful director candidates develop rapport with talented students, their parents, the Stages’ staff and volunteers. It is a team effort to create a memorable show using collaboration, skill, talent and commitment. A background in acting, music, or dance is required with special interest in candidates with experience in working with school-age kids. Also desired: positive attitude, excellent communication skills, theater experience, highest moral standards, excellent organizational skills, and a collaborative approach.

Please submit completed STUDENT DIRECTOR ONE ACT PROPOSAL and Conflict Calendar ONE ACT by mail to address below or email to Carolyn@MJTStages.com. You will receive confirmation that your application has been received. If needed, a meeting to discuss your proposal(s) will be set.
RESOURCES PROVIDED BY STAGES
We provide a Production Manager who is in charge of the overall aspect of the show. Administrative issues and communication with parents are handled through Stages, with a regular newsletter to the cast families. We have a costume manager, technical director, and arrange for tech designers and a costumer. We have an equipped theater with lighting, sound, dressing rooms, and some costumes and props. Together with the director we decide on the artistic staff and arrange for adult and/or qualified student tech designers. Rehearsals & performances take place at the theater. There are many volunteers who work on our shows to make them a success.
