A Magical Journey Thru Stages, Inc. ("Stages") is accepting resumes from directors, musical directors and choreographers for our 2020 Summer Experience Theater Camps.   

 

STAGES is a 501(c)(3) non-profit theater company dedicated to creating fun high-quality youth theatre in our community. Talented youth from the Greater Rochester Area develop their talents to perform high-quality musicals and plays that delight audiences, support local charities, and foster personal and professional growth. All rehearsals and performances are held in the air-conditioned Stages Theater at the Auditorium Center, Third Floor, 875 East Main Street, Rochester, NY 14605.  For more detailed information about Stages:  ​www.MJTStages.com 


 STAGES is seeking talented directors, choreographers and musical directors interested in being part of the artistic teams for our summer experience theater camps. ​We have four 2-week summer camps for 1​st – 12​th graders, theatre training camps, and a drama workshop. The specific details of dates and grades for each camp are set forth below. The SUMMER CAMPS have open registrations that are filled on a first come basis, with a casting night for filling the roles.  
 
The artistic team develops rapport with talented students, their parents, the Stages' staff and volunteers to create a memorable show together. A background in acting, music, or dance is required with special interest in candidates with experience in education, and working with school-age kids. Also desired: positive attitude, excellent communication skills, theater          experience, highest moral standards, excellent organizational skills, and a collaborative approach to theater.

❖ Contact information –  Name, e-mail and phone number. 
❖ Resume with qualifications, including two references involving theater experience.  Set forth details of experience working with youth, including age groups and dates of experience.  No resume or references are needed if you have previously worked at Stages.  
 ❖ Camp(s) #, names, or dates you are interested in being considered for a show.  Show titles for the camps will be chosen collaboratively with the production managers and directors.   If you have a show suggestion, please include it in your email.  
 ❖ You may also list other proposed artistic team members.

Students entering 4th – 8th Grade in Fall

2 weeks - Monday - Friday, 9 - 4pm w/ free wrap-around to 5pm

Performances:  July 17 @ 2pm, July 18 @ 3pm & 7pm

Orientation Casting Session:  TBD (June)  

 

SHOW #2  July 20 - July 31,2020

Students entering 1st – 5th Grade in Fall

2 weeks - ​Half day​ Monday - Friday, 9 - 12 noon  

Performances:  July 31 @ 7pm, August 1 @ 3pm & 7pm

Orientation Casting Session:  TBD 
 
SHOW #3 August 3 – August 14, 2020

Students entering 6th – 10th Grade in Fall

2 weeks - Monday - Friday, 9 - 4pm w/ free wrap-around to 5pm

Performances:  August 14 @ 2pm, August 15 @ 3pm & 7pm

Students entering 7th – 12th Grade in Fall

2 weeks - Monday - Friday, 9 - 4pm w/ free wrap-around to 5pm

Showcase performance July 24, 2020 Friday afternoon

Musical theater training with singing, dance and character development.  Teach and sharpen theater skills.  
 
Musical Theatre Jr. #2 July 27 – July 31

Students entering 6th – 10th Grade in Fall

1 week - ​Half Day ​Monday - Friday​ ​1pm - 4:30pm w/ free wrap-around to 5pm

Showcase performance July 31, 2020 Friday afternoon

Musical theater training with singing, dance and character development.  Teach and sharpen theater skills.  
 
RESOURCES PROVIDED BY STAGES 
 
A Stages Production Manager is in charge of the overall camp and will work closely with the Director and artistic team on all aspects of the show. Administrative issues and communication with parents are handled through Stages. We have a costume manager and technical director, and arrange for tech designers and a costume designer. Our theater is equipped with lighting,  sound, mics, dressing rooms, and some costumes and props. Summer camps take place at the theater.  
 
We believe it is a team effort that makes our camps and performances a success.
